On 13th November 2012, partners from the TransTourism project attended a conference aimed at developing sustainable transport solutions in the NPP region with the morning conference taking place at the An Grianán Hotel in Burt, Co. Donegal.
Glenveagh National Park proved an ideal host for a series of presentations on the work currently being conducted in the area of sustainable tourism within the region. Mr Kevin O’Connor presented on behalf of Donegal County Council, providing insight into the work conducted in the region to attract visitors. Mangan Tours is a leading transport service provider in the area, with Mr Joseph Mangan providing unique insight into challenges faced in providing transport solutions. Ms Trey Connaghan exhibited how Glenveagh has overcome logistical barriers to become easily accessible to visitors to the region.
Events of this nature allow mutually beneficial opportunities for knowledge sharing, empowering all participants. The valuable perceptions provided highlight the challenges faced by the region and barriers to tourists visiting the area. The day concluded with the partners collaborating on the development of a roadmap for the future of the project, held at the Waterfoot Hotel, Derry/Londonderry.
